Participating Insurance Plans and Geographies

Overview

Alma works with an expansive group of commercial insurance carriers across the United States. We are working to go in network with even more insurance carriers in the near future, and we will share these exciting updates here.

Alma also works with covered programs including EAPs and Optum Care Connect, providing additional opportunities to connect with clients and grow your practice. You can learn more about them here:

The Alma insurance program includes the following insurance plans and geographies. To be eligible for payment, you must be (1) licensed in the state you're providing service and (2) credentialed via Alma with each network payer.

Please keep in mind that insurance companies define benefits in countless ways — based on location, employer contracts, and many other factors. Therefore, we cannot guarantee which individual health plans will be considered in-network until we have specific insurance policy information. We always suggest that you submit your client's insurance details to our team to confirm their in-network eligibility, expected payment responsibility, and mental health benefits.

This means that Alma providers who choose to credential with Carelon will automatically be credentialed with eligible Anthem BCBS plans based on their state licensure. Please keep in mind that providers will only be eligible to see Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield clients in states where they are licensed.

Alma is currently in network with the following Anthem BCBS plans:

  • Colorado, Connecticut, Kentucky, Maine, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, Ohio, Virginia, and Wisconsin

We anticipate launching Anthem BCBS of Indiana in 2025 as well, though the date for this launch is currently TBD.

Regional Plans

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts

Alma providers across all 50 states are welcome to get credentialed with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. Unlike Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, you do not need to be located or licensed in Massachusetts to be credentialed with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts.

However, only providers located in Massachusetts will be eligible to see Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts clients both in person and virtually. Providers located outside of Massachusetts will only be eligible to see virtual Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts clients. Point32Health

Point32Health is a regional insurer formed from the merger between Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and Tufts Health Plan, two of Massachusetts’s largest health plans.

We have prioritized contracting directly with Point32Health to ensure continuity of care for Alma clients and providers formerly in-network with Harvard Pilgrim health plans. Alma’s partnership with Point32Health launched on November 1st with no lapse of in-network coverage for clients whose providers opted-in to Point32Health.

Please note that we are not credentialing new providers with Point32Health at this time. We will update the Alma community when we resume credentialing in 2024. See Point32Health (Formerly Harvard Pilgrim) FAQs to learn more.
