Overview
Autopay is a simple, hassle-free way to manage your payments. By enrolling in autopay, when an invoice for your insurance payment responsibility, or out-of-pocket payment responsibility from your provider is created, Alma will automatically charge this to the card you have enrolled.
-
Insurance clients have the option to enroll in autopay by default. No further action is needed.
- Note that FSA, HSA, and HRA debit cards cannot be enrolled in autopay at this time. You can review options for using these benefits for Alma invoices in this Support article.

- For clients paying for sessions out of pocket, autopay is dependent on the therapist’s individual policies. If autopay is turned on, please follow the instructions below to enroll. If you don’t see these options, please speak to your therapist directly about enabling autopay.
Enrolling via Email
If you are interested in enrolling in autopay, ask your therapist to send you an enrollment email and complete the following steps:

- Confirm your identity by entering your phone number
- Add your credit card information and click Enroll
- Done! We will send you and your therapist a confirmation email
Enrolling via Unpaid Invoice
You can also enroll in autopay the next time you pay an invoice online.
- Locate an unpaid invoice in your inbox
- Confirm your identity by entering your phone number
- Add your credit card information in the payment portal
- Before you click the Pay button, select the checkbox that says Enroll in autopay
- Done! We will send you and your therapist a confirmation email
Note: If you do not see a checkbox to enroll in autopay on your invoice, this feature has been disabled by your therapist. Please talk to them directly about turning on autopay.
After Enrolling in Autopay
- Your card will be charged for future sessions within 24 hours of your therapist submitting an invoice
- You will receive an invoice receipt after every payment, including a downloadable version for your records
- If you receive a cost adjustment for a previous session, Alma will automatically charge the card we have on file when the new invoice is issued.
- You and your therapist will receive a confirmation email each time you enroll or unenroll in autopay
Note: Enrolling in autopay does not pay your outstanding invoices. You will need to submit payment for any outstanding invoices separately. To do this, select the Pay Invoice button on your most recent invoice email from Alma.
Updating Your Card or Unenrolling
To update your payment method, or unenroll from autopay entirely:
- Click the update your card or unenroll links found in the autopay confirmation email or any invoice receipt. If you’re having trouble locating this, search your inbox for the subject line "Your receipt from Alma."
