Add Your Insurance Information to the Alma Client Portal

Use this article to add your insurance information to your Alma Client Portal.

Before You Get Started

After you decide to see an Alma provider, you can add your insurance information using a secure link from your provider or through the Alma client portal

Providing accurate and up-to-date insurance information helps Alma:

  • Verify your insurance benefits.
  • Estimate how much you may owe for sessions.
  • Submit claims to your insurance company.

Before getting started, have your insurance card available. To learn which insurance plans Alma accepts, see Alma's Participating Insurance Plans

The following video shows how to request, complete, and submit your insurance information so Alma can review your eligibility and estimate your cost per session.

Add Your Insurance Information

Before your first session, you’ll receive an email from Alma with a link to enter your insurance information.

Step 1: Enter Your Basic Information

Enter your name, date of birth, and sex exactly as they appear on your insurance information.

If you’re entering insurance information on someone else’s behalf, enter the information for the person receiving care.

Note: We are committed to gender inclusivity throughout the experience of finding and seeing a provider on Alma’s platform, and we understand that the selections for “sex” do not capture the broad range of gender expression. However, “sex” is a required field on the insurance claims your provider files on your behalf.

Step 2: Enter Your Insurance Details

Enter the following information for the person receiving care:

  • Insurance provider.
  • Member ID.
  • Group number.
  • Address on file with the insurance company.

Step 3: Add Your Insurance Card

Upload a photo of the front and back of your insurance card.

Insurance card photos are required for Cigna and Blue Cross Blue Shield plans and strongly encouraged for all other insurance plans.

Providing photos can help Alma verify your benefits, submit claims, and troubleshoot insurance issues.

Step 4: Confirm the Policy Holder

Select whether you’re the policyholder or covered under someone else’s insurance plan.

If you’re covered under someone else’s plan, you’ll need to provide the policyholder’s information.

Step 5: Enter the Policy Holder’s Information

If you’re covered under someone else’s insurance plan, enter the policyholder’s:

  • First name.
  • Last name.
  • Date of birth.

Step 6: Review and Submit Your Information

Review your insurance information carefully to make sure everything is correct.

Confirm that the information you provided is accurate, then select Submit information.
