Update Your Insurance Information in the Alma Client Portal

Use this article to learn when to update your insurance information and how to keep it up to date to avoid eligibility, billing, and claims issues.

When Should You Update Your Insurance Information?

Update your information in the client portal when you:

  • enroll in a new insurance plan.
  • receive a new insurance card with updated plan information
  • Your Member ID or Group Number changes.
  • Your employer changes your insurance coverage.
  • Your primary or secondary insurance changes.
  • Your previous coverage ends.
  • You know your insurance will change in the future.

Why Should You Keep Your Insurance Information Updated?

Alma uses your insurance information to:

  • Verify your benefits.
  • Estimate your session costs.
  • Process insurance claims.

Outdated or incorrect insurance information may result in delays, incorrect cost estimates, or claim issues.

Update or Add Upcoming Insurance Information

If your insurance information changes, update it as soon as possible to help ensure your eligibility, cost estimates, billing, and claims are processed correctly.

If you know your coverage will change in the future, you can add your new insurance information before your plan becomes active.

To update your current insurance or add upcoming coverage, contact your provider. They can send you a secure link to submit your new insurance information or update it on your behalf through the Alma portal.

To update from the email:

  1. Select Confirm your Benefits
  2. Log in to or create your Alma Client Portal account.
  3. Find the Confirm your Benefits task and select Start.
  4. Select whether your current insurance will change.
  5. If your insurance is changing, enter your upcoming insurance information and upload images of your new insurance card.
  6. Review your information and select Submit.

  1. Select Confirm your Benefits from the email you receive from Alma.
  2. Log in to the Alma Client Portal.
  3. Find the Confirm your Benefits task and select Start.
