How to Review and Pay Your Alma Invoice

Use this article to understand the charges on your Alma invoice and how to pay your balance.

If you are using insurance to cover services with an Alma provider, and your insurance carrier has confirmed you owe a payment responsibility, Alma automatically sends you an invoice for that predetermined amount after each session.

Review Invoice Charges

You will see specific charges on your invoice. Common items include:

  • Session fees based on your insurance or private-pay rate.
  • Adjustments or credits from a past invoice.
  • Cancellation or no-show fees from your provider.

Note: Reach out to your provider if you have questions about a cancellation fee, since they set this policy.

Acceptable Payment Methods

If you pay your provider directly outside of Alma, those payments do not appear in the Alma Client Portal or reflect in your Alma billing history. Always pay through the payment link in your Alma invoice email to keep your billing history accurate.

You can pay your invoice using:

  • Apple Pay, if you are on an iPhone or iPad using Safari or the Chrome app.
  • Credit card.
  • Debit card.
  • Flexible Spending Account (FSA) card and Health Savings Account (HSA) card. For more information on working with these benefits, FSAs, HSAs, and HRAs.
  • Google Pay, if you are on a Windows or Android device using Chrome, or an iPhone or iPad using Chrome in a web browser.
Note: Apple Pay and Google Pay work the same way as a card. Alma still charges you, sends receipts, and tracks your payment history the same way; you are simply choosing a faster way to enter your payment information.

Alma does not accept:

  • Cash.
  • Paper checks.
  • Payment apps or third-party payment services, such as Venmo, Zelle, or Cash App.

Pay an Invoice From Your Email

Step 1: Locate the Invoice Link

  1. Open the Alma invoice email. It includes your provider's name and invoice ID, and reads: "[Provider Name] has sent you an invoice for your recent appointment. Follow the link below to pay online."
  2. Select the Pay Online Now link.
  3. Find your invoice ID below the Pay Online Now button — for example, Invoice abc000. Alma formats this ID as a series of six numbers and letters.

Step 2: Verify Your Identity

  1. Enter your phone number.
  2. If verification fails, contact your provider to confirm the phone number on your account.

Step 3: Complete Your Payment

  1. Select Details to pay a specific past invoice.
  2. Enter your payment information.
  3. Select Submit.

Pay a Specific Invoice

If you have one unpaid invoice, Alma prompts you to pay it after you select Pay Online Now.

If you have multiple unpaid invoices, you can choose to pay:

  • The invoice for your most recent session.
  • All outstanding invoices at once.
  • A specific past invoice by selecting Details and choosing the invoice you want to pay.

FAQs

Can I pay my invoice with Apple Pay or Google Pay?

Yes. Apple Pay and Google Pay are available for clients paying invoices, enrolling in autopay, and submitting direct intake booking requests. Availability depends on your device and browser: Apple Pay works with Safari or the Chrome app on an iPhone or iPad, and Google Pay works with Chrome on Windows, Android, or an iPhone or iPad.

Why do I have a cancellation fee on my invoice?

Your provider sets their own cancellation policies. If you miss a session or cancel late, your provider may submit a fee. Reach out to your provider directly to discuss this charge.

Alma lists your invoice ID below the Pay Online Now button in your invoice email, formatted as a series of six numbers and letters.
