Enroll in Autopay

Autopay is a simple way to manage your payments for therapy sessions. Use this article to learn how to enroll in Autopay.

To Enroll in Autopay

If you use insurance to pay for your sessions, you'll be required to add a valid payment method and enroll in Autopay during intake. State law exempts clients in Connecticut from this requirement.

Note:If you receive care in Connecticut, you aren't required to keep a payment method on file. Alma's Autopay requirement does not apply to Connecticut based clients due to state law. • You'll receive an email receipt after each payment, including a downloadable copy for your records.
  • If the amount you owe changes after your insurance company processes a claim, Alma will email you at least 10 days before charging the updated amount to your saved payment method.
  • You and your provider will receive a confirmation email whenever you enroll in Autopay or update your saved payment method.
Note: Enrolling in Autopay does not automatically pay outstanding invoices. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

Why do I need to enroll into Autopay?

If you're using insurance to pay for your sessions, Alma requires you to enroll in Autopay and add a valid payment method. This helps ensure your provider is paid promptly once a session has been submitted.

You won't be charged when you enroll. Your payment method is only charged after your provider submits a claim for a session or if you're charged a cancellation fee, if applicable.

You don't need to enroll in Autopay before your insurance benefits are verified. After you receive your completed Eligibility Check and decide to move forward with care, you can enroll at any time before your first billable session.

Note: If you're receiving care through an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), you don't need to enroll in Autopay because your employer covers the cost of your eligible sessions.

What payment methods can I use with Autopay?

You can use the following payment methods:

  • Credit Card or Debit Card (E.g: Mastercard, Visa, American Express, Discover)
  • FSA, HSA, and HRA cards.

You cannot use foreign cards for autopay at this time.

To update an existing payment method, see Update or Remove Your Payment Method.

Do I need to enroll in Autopay if I pay out of pocket or have a $0 copay?

If you pay out of pocket, you do not need to enroll. If you use insurance, you must have a payment method on file even if your copay is $0.

What happens if my card fails or expires?

Alma will notify you by email to update your card. If you do not update your card, your provider may choose to delay or cancel care to avoid unpaid charges.

If I’m seeking care via an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), do I need to enroll in Autopay?

No. If your sessions are covered through an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), you don't need to enroll in Autopay or save a payment method while you're using your EAP benefits.

If you continue care after your EAP benefits end, you'll need to add a valid payment method and enroll in Autopay before your first billable session.
